Although Night Owls was officially established in 2019, its real story began back in the 80s. My earliest memories involve watching my late father film our family’s milestone moments on his 8mm camera. Growing up in Germany, nothing excited me more as a kid than pulling the trigger on that black handheld camera and hearing its iconic “tic tic tic” as it recorded. Initially, I think I was drawn to it because it felt like a toy gun, but as I got older, I realized I was captivated by the art of documenting everything around me.
When I was 17, I got my hands on a Sharp Viewcam—a cutting-edge camera at the time that let you see what you were recording on screen and even watch playback. Much to the annoyance of those around me, I couldn’t stop filming. I also started DJing and naturally began documenting all of our events. As the events grew, I found myself taking on a Director/Producer role, coordinating more talented photographers and videographers—roles I truly loved.
As my entertainment company, Exclusively Entertainment, grew throughout the 2010s, we began offering photo and video services to our clients. It reached a point where we were handling so many projects that I decided to separate these services, especially because I felt our visual work was being overshadowed by our entertainment offerings. That’s how Night Owls was born in 2019, initially focused on events and weddings. However, the pandemic in 2020 had other plans. With events on pause, we pivoted to helping entrepreneurs and businesses create content.
Today, as I sit here in 2024, I can confidently say that Night Owls exists because of my father’s love for preserving our family’s special memories. Not only did he leave us priceless videos dating back to my parents’ wedding in Tehran nearly 70 years ago, but he also sparked my passion and led me to work with an incredible team of talented and creative individuals. Together, we produce stunning content for events, brands, and businesses.
